Gorgeous Women Don’t Drink

This commercial begins by showing a seemingly old flashback of how beer was originally brewed. However, the brewery had the problem of men giving into the temptation of drinking the beer. Instead of just hiring other men (or women) to work at the factory, they decide to only hire women, gorgeous women. Their reasoning behind this? Women don’t drink beer, and therefore don’t have the temptation to drink all the beer. After a few frames of proving that the women truly are gorgeous, the commercial switches to a scene with beer stolen. After tracking down the people who were working on that line at the time of the crime, two men masquerading as women are caught and promptly fired from the company. The commercial finishes with the two men being chased out of the factory with their costumes half falling off.

My first thoughts after watching this video: what?! Why do only men face the problem of having the temptation of drinking the beer? I really can’t tell whether this commercial is trying to imply that only men drink beer, and therefore are the only ones to have the temptation to drink it, or if women also drink beer but are strong enough to resist the temptation. Second of all, apparently being gorgeous has a major impact on your ability to resist temptation or your likely hood to drink beer. I feel like the only reason this commercial included the comment about gorgeous women is so it would have sex appeal to it, which all beer commercials must have for some reason or another.
